Calling for all hikers to join Climb For Green 2014, a fund-raising event organized by Lions Club International District 308 B2 in conjunction with Penang State Governor’s birthday for the 10th consecutive year. This event will be happening on 23rd March 2014 (Sunday), 6.30 in the morning at with the starting point at Botanical Gardens, Penang. The route will lead you all the way to Penang Hill where the prizes presentation and lucky draws will be held.
This event is endorsed by Penang State Government, in collaboration with Penang State Sports Council, Penang Municipal Council and Penang Amateur Athletic Association.
“The objective of this event is to promote care and love for the green environment at the same time also to promote leisure exercises for health. Other than that, we also aim to raise some fund for The Association of Resource and Education for Autistic Children (REACh) as one of our efforts to create awareness about autism. Autism refers to a lifelong developmental disability that affects how a person communicates with, and relates to other people. It also affects how they make sense of the world around them,” said the President, Lions Club of Tanjung, Penang (Terms 2013 – 2014) cum Organizing Chairman, Lion Choo Eng Hin.
Registration is open to public and permission from guardians is required for participants below the age of 18. The categories are:
– Category A: Boy aged 17 & below
– Category B: Girl aged 17 & below
– Category C: Men aged 18 – 34
– Category D: Women aged 18 – 34
– Category E: Men Veteran aged 35 & above
– Category F: Women Veteran aged 35 & above

This event is suitable for the whole family and we encourage all to be part of this healthy hiking event which is also held for a good cause said State Youth and Sports, Women, Family and Community Development committee chairman YB. Chong Eng during the press conference at Komtar recently [4th March 2014].
A non-returnable registration fee is RM20 and the fee includes one dry-fit t-shirt, a bun and one bottle of drinking water. We are targeting 1200 participants to join this event and it is based on first-come-first-serve basis. As a norm, a finishing medal and certificate of recognition will be given to participants who reaches the finishing line within 2.5hours from the starting time (7.30am-10.00am). Top 5 prizes will be given out to winners for each category and we urge you to hurry and register soon because the closing date for registration is on 15th March 2014. has been extended until the number of participants reaches 1,200.

As a tradition, the Penang State Governor will be joining the event at the top of Penang Hill during prizes giving ceremony and this follow with a birthday cake cutting session. In line with the green theme, Leo’s Club members will be on duty as sweeper for the event. They will be responsible in caring for the environment surrounding the events route to ensure that the place is kept clean.
Fabulous lucky draw prizes are up for grabs during this event. The grand prize is a motorcycle and other prizes include a 42-inch LCD TV, iPhone 5, iPad mini and many more. T-shirt collection is on 16th March 2014 (Sunday) from 10am till 6pm at DELTA Extra (Gembira Parade), Greenlane.
