It was a sight to remember as a sea of pink flooded the Jalan Padang Kota Lama as the clock ticks toward flag off time for the inaugural JCI Pearl Women’s Run 2014.

Participants dressed in pink dri-fit jerseys thronged event site as early as 6am to “check in” for the run.

While they waited patiently to start the 6km race at 7.30am on Sunday, 9 March 2014 at Esplanade, the crowd participated in a 15 minute warming up session led by staff of Institute Sukan Negara [ISN] Penang.

Though organised for women in-conjunction with the annual International Women’s Day Celebration, there were quite a large group of men who also registered for the run and believe it or not, most of them were very supportive and also ran in the pink event jersey!

A fairly easy route for seasoned runners and a reasonably challenging one for the first timers, officials saw participants completing the race without much difficulties. And to top the icing of the cake, each participant who completes the route were given a finisher medal.

The JCI Pearl Women’s Run is organised in conjunction with Penang State Govenmernt International Women’s Day Celebration 2014

The aim of organizing this run:

  • To promote healthy living through active participation in sports so as to enable women to achieve healthy balanced lifestyle amid multiple work & life demands.
  • To celebrate International Women’s Day 2014 with the theme “End Violence Against Women”.
  • All proceeds would be channeled to charitable organisations.

Eligibility:

  • This run is open to all Malaysians above age 13.
  • Male participants are required to register a female companion to participate in the run.
  1. Registration Fee : RM25.00 (For Competitive Run – 6km)
    No fees will be refunded to participants who do not eventually take part in the run for whatever reason.
  2. Every participant is entitled to one dry fit T-Shirt & one goody bag.
  3. Women Categories
    • Aged 13-17 Girls
    • Aged 18-24 Women Junior
    • Aged 25-34 Women Senior
    • Aged 35-44 Junior Veteran
    • Aged 45-54 Senior Veteran
    • Aged 55 & above Diamond Veteran

      Male participants are required to bring along one female partner to participate in this event
  5. Prizes
    • Winner medals for 1st – 10th place winners from Categories A, B, C, D, E & G; 1st – 5th place winners from Category F.
    • Finisher medals & certificates for participants who complete the race within 1 hour 15 mins.
    • All finishers will be entitled to the lucky draw.
