Held bi-annually, the LP Mountainbike Carnival 2013 started Day One with a carnival with children’s colouring contest, cosplay competition, super cars and super bike show, interesting modified car stereo shows, sports demonstrations and cultural performances at the Jalan Betek Stadium, Bukit Mertajam.
The Carnival was declared open by the Right Honourable Chief Minister of Penang, Yang Amat Berhormat Lim Guan Eng who also revealed a custom-made bicycle measuring some 55 feet long as part of the launching gimmick. The one of its kind two wheeler was popular with the visitors as they posed for photos with it. Among other attractions included an 80 feet high hot air balloon which carried interested visitors some 100 feet above the ground with a minimum donation of RM100 which went to a charity fund for the needy.
The highlight of the carnival however was on Day Two which saw over 1,500 riders braved through over 50km trail of mostly challenging off road terrain. It was muddy and tiring for most of the riders but it was an unforgettable experience for all.

She was present to flag off the the entourage of cyclists which were led by several luxury cars that Sunday morning. Also present at the flag off was Bukit Mertajam member of parliament Steven Sim Chee Keong and Jawi assemblyman YB Soon Lip Chee.
